0. Africa from my Mom's perspective

Back in 1988, Mom, Barbara, decided to write up an account of the preparation and journey to and in Africa. What follows are her own words. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have. When I read this account, I can hear her talking. She was a good story teller.

The first part, Teaching opportunities in East Africa, is her account of applying and interviewing for the teaching position. Much of the rest of it is from letters home to family while we were in Africa. We are lucky that the family members kept those letters.

I have not altered the word usage to preserve the character as much as possible.
